Protective suit sewing technology
For several months now, we have all been living in a new world. Take a look around and you will see how the usual rhythm of our life has changed. Everything around has changed.
And light industry was one of the first to rebuild on new rails. The world's leading manufacturers are looking for solutions for the automation of personal protective equipment, all other areas have faded into the background. The pandemic came to our country later than others, so now we have the opportunity to take advantage of the experience and technologies successfully implemented in other countries.
We have already told you more than once about sewing masks, you can familiarize yourself with our solutions at the link: https: // knitism.ru/catalog/proizvodstvo-meditsinskikh-masok/
But today we want to dwell in more detail on personal protective suits and share with you the technologies and automation capabilities in the scope of tailoring the suit.
Let's go through the main knots of tailoring a suit.
Protective suits fall into several categories:
reusable anti-epidemic (anti-plague) suits. They protect the skin and respiratory system during the spread of infections that are transmitted by airborne droplets or through contaminated surfaces;
disposable anti-epidemic suits. They have the same functions as reusable ones, but unlike reusable ones, they are disinfected and disposed of;
biological and chemical protection suits. Used in especially difficult situations.
For the most part, protective suits are made of polyester materials - spunbond. When forming a polyester chain, the material can be given any properties - stretching, density, hydroscopicity, moisture resistance, etc., required for a certain degree of protection. Additionally, the suits are treated with water-repellent agents. Such suits have a minimum number of seams to exclude the possibility of penetration of harmful microorganisms.
The protective suit has a high load during operation, therefore it is so important to treat the structural seams of the product in a special way. Which ones are most stressed?
first of all, it is a clasp that runs along the body;
middle seam of the backrest, passing into the seam of the seat;
the seam of the connection of the hood to the product;
the bottom of the sleeves and legs, because the tight fit of the suit around the wrist and ankles provides reliable protection against the penetration of potentially dangerous microorganisms.
For the production of costumes, high-tech equipment is used, which allows you to quickly and efficiently process the product.
Let's consider each node separately:
- processing of the middle seam of the back, the crotch seam, the lower seam of the sleeves, turning into the yoke and the connection of the hood with the product. For such knots, a certain stretching of the seams is necessary during the operation of the suit, because the seam should not burst. Seam pattern:
& nbsp; & nbsp;
Recommended equipment:
1. Two-needle four-thread overcasting machine "PEGASUS M952-52-2X4 / D222"
2. Two-needle four-thread overcasting machine "SIRUBA 747K-514M2-24 / DKKU1-0"
3. Two-needle four-thread overcasting machine "Aurora A-700DE-4"
Recommended means of small-scale mechanization:
1) Bx27 needles - numbers 65-80. Sharpening R, KN, SF.
2) Pneumatic suction of scraps of fabric and dust. You can look at this link.
- processing of the bottom of the sleeves, trousers and the back of the overalls - joining the upper part with the trousers. The seam is at the level of the waist, therefore an anatomical fit is necessary, which is ensured by the elastic band. Seam pattern:
& nbsp;
& nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp;
Recommended equipment:
& nbsp;
& nbsp;
1. An automated solution based on a single-needle three-thread & nbsp; overcasting machine with a cylindrical platform and with a dosed gum feed & nbsp; & nbsp; " PEGASUS EX5104-D-52D1 / 333-4 / MC401 / Z054 / PT ", & nbsp;
& nbsp;
2. & nbsp; Two-needle four-thread overcasting machine & nbsp; with a mechanical elastic tape feed & nbsp; "PEGASUS M952-52-2X4 / D222 "
& nbsp;
Recommended means of small-scale mechanization:
1) Trimming foot - P101 / F374.
& nbsp; 2) Bx27 needles - numbers 65-80. Sharpening R, KN, SF.
3) Aurora MDK-60 rubber band feeder .
& nbsp;
- Sewing on zippers or Velcro. A necessary operation that must meet the safety and reliability requirements of the assembly. Seam pattern:
& nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp;
& nbsp;

- Pneumatic zipper insertion and staple installation ZIPP 6 LF.CF. Loop width - up to 6 mm.
mashinka3-5.png.jpg
Recommended means of small-scale mechanization:
For sewing on zippers:
1) Needles DPx5 or DBx1 - numbers 65-80. Sharpening R, KN, SF
2) Feet for sewing in zippers.
3) Limiting rulers are an emphasis for even stitching.
To sew on Velcro instead of zippers:
1) Needles coated with titanium or Teflon to prevent heating of the needle and melting of the material. Needle numbers - 70-80.
2) Limiting rulers are an emphasis for even stitching.
3) A device for hemming material on the flap with Velcro.
When sewing a suit, punctures from the needle remain, no matter how thin it is. And this is a potential entrance for various types of microorganisms and harmful agents for treating contaminated surfaces. To avoid this, all joints of the parts are additionally processed on a seam sealing machine, for example, "AURORA NHA-7705".

The list of recommended equipment can be supplemented or changed depending on the technological task for sewing a protective suit.
& nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; Many beginners or existing production of this specialization ask the question: What products to produce additionally? Since there is seasonality and the demand for protective suits may be minimal. The list of recommended equipment is universal and can be used in almost any direction of the light industry. Examples: manufacture of knitwear (T-shirts, sweatshirts, underwear), tracksuits, workwear, raincoats, ski suits, tents and snowboard jackets.
